Houston Groups Question Home Depot's Role in ICE Detention
Community groups in Houston are questioning whether Home Depot cooperated with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the detention of Juan Francisco Monroy Turuy.
The incident occurred on Friday at a southwest Houston Home Depot store, where local organizations FIEL, PSL, CRECEN, and others held a demonstration to demand answers about why ICE responded so quickly and whether Home Depot provided information or assisted federal immigration authorities.
According to the organizers, they want clarity on the company's role in Monroy Turuy's detention. Cesar Espinosa, Executive Director of FIEL, warned that community members could consider boycotting Home Depot if the company does not explain its involvement.
The groups emphasize concerns about immigration enforcement, surveillance technology, and cooperation between federal agents and local law enforcement. However, they did not provide evidence confirming a formal partnership between Home Depot and ICE.
