Huang: Cybersecurity to Become Next Big Thing for AI
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang predicts that cybersecurity will become one of the biggest business opportunities for the technology industry due to the increasing capabilities of AI. Speaking at a Goldman Sachs conference, Huang stated that companies will increasingly use AI to find software vulnerabilities and defend against cyberattacks.
Huang's prediction comes amid growing concerns about AI safety in Silicon Valley. Researchers have warned that powerful AI could pose existential threats if left unchecked, including by enabling more sophisticated cyberattacks. However, Huang focused on the potential benefits of AI in cybersecurity, noting that it is a natural extension of coding and bug finding.
AI-powered cybersecurity systems will run continuously, unlike coding assistants, which means companies will pay to keep them running around the clock. Nvidia has been pushing deeper into cybersecurity, partnering with CrowdStrike, Cisco, and Palantir to build AI-powered cybersecurity tools.
Other AI giants are also betting on cybersecurity, with OpenAI's chief financial officer, Sarah Friar, describing it as a major commercial opportunity.
