Huang's Brutal Honesty: Nvidia CEO Warns Departing Founders of Entrepreneurship Challenges
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is known for his direct and honest approach to managing employees. This was evident when two founders, David Hoeller and Nikita Rudin, decided to leave Nvidia and start their own robotics company, Flexion Robotics. Instead of trying to persuade them to stay, Huang gave them brutally honest feedback about their plans.
The founders had already planned to leave and start their new venture, but they still needed to change the name of their company from Checkpoint to something else. Huang was blunt in his criticism, saying that the name sounded like it belonged in a different industry.
Rudin recalled the conversation, saying 'I don't want to give him all the credit, but we probably changed it because of his comment.'
Huang also warned them about the challenges they would face as entrepreneurs. 'He told us that the name was bad, and that we had to change it,' Rudin said.
