Huawei Accused of Running 'Criminal Enterprise' in US Trial
A high-profile trial against China's Huawei began in Brooklyn federal court on September 9. US prosecutor Taylor Stout described Huawei as a 'criminal enterprise' that stole from American companies to build its telecommunications empire.
The theft allegedly involved stealing trade secrets, including source code for internet routers from Cisco Systems and a robotic arm used by T-Mobile to test phones. The goal was to gain an unfair competitive advantage and dominate the global telecommunications industry.
Huawei's defence team painted a different picture of the company, calling it 'about competition, not conspiracy' and saying the charges are based on 'cherry-picked' incidents that don't constitute a broader conspiracy.
