Hudson Valley Road Reopens After Severe Weather Causes Flash Flooding
A severe week of weather in the Hudson Valley brought significant rain and flash flooding to the region. The rainfall caused prolonged road closures, including a section of Rt. 9 Fishkill that was closed due to flooding damage. On Wednesday, July 29th, reports indicated that the highly traveled area near Home Depot had been closed, with all four lanes deemed unsafe for travel between Van Wyck Lake Road and Clove Road.
The NYS DOT reported that staff was on site evaluating repairs and planning the safest path to restoring the roadway. After some uncertainty about the road's status, NYS Assemblyman Anil Beephan confirmed on Thursday evening, July 30th, that the road had been reopened, with intermittent lane closures expected over the next few days as restoration work continues.
