Hyundai Ditches In-House Driver-Assist Software for Nvidia Partnership
Hyundai Motor Group has delayed its in-house driver-assist software platform, Atria, until late 2029. Instead, the company will co-develop Nvidia-powered 'Level 2+' and 'Level 2++' systems with the tech giant for release in 2028.
The decision was made to bridge the gap between Hyundai's existing technology and the rapidly improving driver-assistance features across the industry. According to Reuters, Hyundai will use data generated by its first Hyperion 10-based vehicles, which will rely on cameras, ultrasonic sensors, and radar, with LiDAR only a future Level 3 option.
Hyundai aims to sell over 7 million vehicles per year, and the company is focused on accumulating driving data to close the software gap. By partnering with Nvidia, Hyundai is deepening ties across other projects, including AI data centers and Boston Dynamics' robots.
