IBM Acquires HRL Laboratories to Bolster Quantum Computing
IBM has completed its acquisition of HRL Laboratories, LLC (HRL), a leading research and development institution. The deal brings together two organizations with a shared commitment to advancing science and technology.
HRL's expertise in silicon-spin qubits complements IBM's leadership in superconducting quantum computing. This combination broadens the range of quantum technologies available across both organizations.
The acquisition also adds capabilities in quantum sensing, materials, cryogenics, control electronics, packaging, and interconnect technologies to IBM's quantum hardware roadmap.
