IBM and OpenAI have announced a partnership aimed at bringing AI technology deeper into core business operations. The partnership combines OpenAI models and products with IBM Consulting's expertise to help enterprises transform with AI more securely across various areas, including workflow automation and application modernization.

The companies plan to focus on identifying areas where AI can make the biggest difference in specific business industry processes. To do this, they will use IBM Consulting Advantage Context Studio to codify industry and enterprise knowledge, and then analyze an enterprise's standard operating procedures and workflows with its Process Studio to identify inefficiencies and streamline workflow.

Michael Healy, Managing Partner of Offerings, Assets and Gen AI at IBM Consulting, stated that the challenge now is turning intelligence into agentic workflows that actually run the business. The partnership will also focus on applying AI to specific business industry processes while modernizing applications and redesigning back-office workflows.
