IBM Backs BQP with $8 Million Investment in Quantum-Algorithm Physics Acceleration
BQP, a physics acceleration company, announced a strategic investment from IBM Ventures. This funding brings BQP's total investment to $8 million and will be used for expanding its platform beyond aerospace and defense.
The investment was led by IBM Ventures, with participation from Venn10 Capital and existing investor Monta Vista Capital. Since its 2025 seed round, BQP has grown its contracted and committed revenue 8x, tripled its customer base, and increased platform users 20x.
BQP's founder and CEO Abhishek Chopra said that the industry had been treating quantum computing as a hardware problem for years. However, he believes that it is actually a software problem. BQPhy, their physics-AI optimization engine, resolves this issue by using GPU capacity that classical solvers leave idle.
The platform delivers high-fidelity physics simulations without the need for expensive and power-hungry quantum machines. This technology has already been applied in aerospace and defense, where it has shown significant improvements over existing solutions.
