IBM Bolsters AI Presence in India with University Partnerships and $240M Investment
IBM is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives in India by launching research centers at MIT Bengaluru and CHRIST University. The collaborations aim to strengthen the local talent pipeline, providing students and researchers access to cutting-edge AI technologies.
The IBM-MIT AI Lab at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) Bengaluru and the IBM Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence at CHRIST University offer expertise in generative AI, machine learning, and data analytics. This initiative is part of IBM's strategy to cultivate a skilled workforce adept in its enterprise AI tools.
The company has also signed a $240 million agreement with Together AI, which will deploy high-performance NVIDIA HGX B300 infrastructure on the IBM Cloud by early 2027. This collaboration forms part of a broader capital-intensive strategy to remain competitive in the cloud and AI arenas.
