IBM Bolsters Quantum Business with HRL Acquisition

IBM has completed its acquisition of HRL Laboratories, a research company specializing in quantum computing and related fields. This deal strengthens IBM's position in the quantum business, which is considered one of its most promising long-term areas.

HRL's expertise in silicon-spin qubits will complement IBM's existing focus on superconducting quantum computing. The acquisition also brings additional capabilities in quantum materials, cryogenics, control electronics, packaging, and interconnects, which should enhance IBM's hardware roadmap.

IBM stock is currently holding around key support at $230.90, a level that has been a focal point for traders. If the price drops below this level and stays there for at least one session, it would increase the probability of a further decline to the $225-$222 area.

On the other hand, if IBM can recover above $230.90 and stay there for two consecutive sessions, it could weaken the bearish case and potentially lead to a target of resistance at $240.
