IBM i Security Landscape Shifts with Mandatory MFA

The IBM i platform has long been a backbone of mission-critical operations in various industries. However, its inherent security is no longer assumed to be enough. According to a survey, cybersecurity is now ranked as the top concern among IBM i professionals.

A recent report by IBM's X-Force found that identity-based attacks surged 32% in the first half of 2025 alone, and vulnerability exploitation became the leading cause of incidents overall. The global average cost of a data breach hit a record $4.99 million in 2026, a 12% increase over last year.
