IBM Infrastructure Revenue Falls as Tech Giant Shifts Focus
International Business Machines (IBM) is facing scrutiny as its infrastructure revenue declines. The tech giant, which operates across software, consulting, infrastructure, and financing, reported a mixed performance in its recent results.
The company's software revenue saw an increase, while its infrastructure revenue fell compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. This shift highlights IBM's efforts to adapt to changing market demands and expand its offerings in hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
IBM's consulting segment also showed a modest increase on a constant-currency basis, with generative AI playing a significant role in consulting engagements. The company has stated that generative AI represents a substantial portion of the consulting backlog.
