IBM Invests Big in AI with $240M OpenAI Deal
International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has announced a significant partnership with OpenAI and Together AI, involving a US$240 million investment over several years. The deal will see IBM deploy a large Nvidia HGX B300 inference cluster on its cloud platform by early 2027.
The collaboration also includes an expanded partnership with OpenAI to embed frontier models such as GPT-5.6, Codex, and ChatGPT into IBM's Consulting Advantage and cybersecurity offerings.
This move positions IBM as a systems integrator for enterprises looking to convert complex legacy workflows into AI-enabled operations in highly regulated sectors like government, financial services, and telecommunications.
