IBM Loses 100 Jobs in West Virginia Amid IRS Contract Loss
IBM's Rocket Center location in West Virginia has been hit by layoffs due to the loss of a major services contract with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS chose not to renew the contract, resulting in approximately 100 employee layoffs. According to sources, the layoffs are effective September 4.
The IBM facility in Rocket Center supports federal technology and consulting programs. WCBC has reached out to IBM for comment but has yet to receive a response.
