IBM Quantum Computing Powers First Commercial Game
IBM's quantum computing technology has been used in the development of C.L.A.Y. - The Last Redemption, a narrative-driven post-apocalyptic RPG game created by MiTale Ltd.
The game uses IBM Quantum's simulator to generate maps, characters, and graphics, making it the 'first commercial game on the market utilizing quantum computing in an immersive narrative experience.'
MiTale has been exploring quantum games since 2019, working with experts from IBM Quantum Computing to integrate quantum systems with familiar development environments.
The goal is to enhance player-centered design and provide unique real-time adjusting experiences in every gaming session. MiTale also hopes to one day use real quantum hardware in PCs, which could accelerate complex tasks similar to a GPU.
