IBM Quantum Simulations Overcome Classical Limitations Using Qedma Error Mitigation
A team of researchers from IBM, Qedma, RIKEN, and BlueQubit has made significant advancements in quantum simulations using an IBM Heron processor. The collaboration employed QESEM software, a quantum error suppression and error mitigation solution developed by Qedma, to investigate the intermediate-time dynamics of Floquet quantum magnets.
Floquet quantum magnets are periodically driven systems exhibiting unique non-equilibrium physics, which pose significant challenges for both classical simulations and quantum experiments. The team used two distinct protocols within QESEM: QESEM-Unbiased and QESEM-Extrapolated, to achieve reliable results.
The researchers found that current classical methods, including tensor networks and sparse Pauli paths, struggled to provide controlled predictions in a critical regime where entanglement and operator complexity continued to grow. In contrast, the error-mitigated quantum measurements from the IBM Heron processor remained reliable.
