IBM is making significant enhancements to its U.S. Open app for 2026 as part of its longstanding sponsorship of the tournament.

According to Kameryn Stanhouse, IBM's VP/Global Sports & Entertainment Partnerships, the focus this year is on bringing fans 'closer to courtside' through new metrics and personalization features.

The new features include a statistic called 'Serve Quality,' which grades serves on a scale of 0-100 based on algorithms trained on academic papers and historical data. This metric will be available in the IBM-powered AI assistant, 'Match Chat.'

IBM is also introducing an enhanced version of Match Chat that can respond to fan queries using photo and video content.
