IBM Seeks Quantum Payoff Amid Stock Slump
IBM's stock has been under pressure, down 23% since January and trading 32% below its June peak of €292.85.
The company is shifting focus to its quantum computing ambitions, with a goal to build a fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029.
In late August, IBM acquired HRL Laboratories, a research outfit previously co-owned by Boeing and General Motors, bringing in-house expertise in silicon-spin qubits and advanced quantum sensing.
This deal complements the company's existing superconducting-qubit approach and feeds directly into its roadmap for a fault-tolerant quantum computer.
