IBM's CEO Arvind Krishna said on CNBC's 'Mad Money' that quantum computing will start making a measurable impact on the company's revenue and profit by 2028 or 2029. This prediction is part of IBM's growing confidence in the long-term economic potential of quantum technology.

Krishna stated, 'By the end of the 2030s, we are now pretty convinced this is a trillion dollars of value.' He emphasized that a quantum computer can solve certain problems more efficiently than leading classical systems, which could eventually support advances in battery technology, new materials, fusion energy, and drug development.

IBM is increasing its investment in the technology, with plans to build a standalone quantum chip foundry backed by a $1 billion commitment from the U.S. Department of Commerce through CHIPS incentives, matched by another $1 billion from IBM.
