IBM Sees Quantum Computing Revenue by 2028-2029
IBM CEO Arvind Krishna said quantum computing is nearing commercialization and will contribute to IBM's revenue by 2028-2029. He emphasized that quantum computers can solve complex problems more efficiently than classical computers, with potential applications in industries like pharmaceuticals, logistics, and finance.
In an interview reported by CoinDesk, Krishna stated that 'quantum computing is getting close to commercialization' and will deliver better performance at a lower cost. He also projected that quantum computing could generate $1 trillion in economic value by the late 2030s.
IBM has invested $2 billion with the U.S. government to build a standalone quantum chip foundry, which will focus on manufacturing advanced quantum processors. The company's quantum system platforms have already been deployed at some customer sites, but revenue generation has been limited so far.
