IBM Study Reveals Wide AI Adoption Gap in US Classrooms
IBM has released new research showing that artificial intelligence is being widely adopted in American classrooms, but teachers and schools are struggling to keep up with its implementation.
The survey found that three-quarters of middle school and high school educators reported using AI tools at least weekly, while only a small minority said they had received extensive training in the tools. This lack of training was cited as the single biggest obstacle to using AI effectively in education.
In response, IBM has launched a fellowship program for school-system leaders, providing free credentials through its skills platform and capstone projects focused on responsible AI deployment in schools. The company is also drawing on its consulting arm's expertise to address the shortage of people who understand how to build, govern, and operate AI systems.
