IBM Teams with Together AI for $240M Nvidia-Powered AI Cluster
The tech giants IBM and Together AI have partnered to build a massive AI computing cluster on IBM Cloud using Nvidia technology. The deal, worth $240 million, is part of a multi-year agreement that aims to support the inference of open-source AI models.
The US-based cluster will initially include around 2,000 Nvidia Blackwell 300 chips and utilize Nvidia's HGX B300 systems and Spectrum-X Ethernet networking technology. This infrastructure will enable businesses to run AI applications at potentially lower costs as demand for computing power continues to grow.
Together AI provides companies with the necessary infrastructure to train and run open AI models, including DeepSeek, MiniMax, and Kimi. The San Francisco-based startup was last valued at $8.3 billion, indicating its significant impact in the industry.
