IBM Teams with Together AI on $240 Million AI Cluster Deal
IBM and startup Together AI have partnered to build a large-scale artificial intelligence cluster on IBM Cloud, using Nvidia systems. The multi-year agreement is valued at $240 million and aims to provide inference for open-source AI models.
The initial cluster will feature about 2,000 Nvidia Blackwell 300 chips, which are optimized for AI inference, and will be located in the US. Together AI's chief revenue officer Kai Mak said that the cluster is expected to be sold out at least two to three months ahead of time.
Together AI's platform allows companies to train and run AI workloads on open models such as DeepSeek, MiniMax, and Kimi at lower costs than closed systems. The startup was last valued at $8.3 billion in July.
