IBM Tries to Rebound with OpenAI Partnership Amidst 25% Stock Collapse
IBM has forged an alliance with OpenAI to embed its GPT-5.6 technology into IBM's consulting platform, just one month after a 25% stock collapse.
The partnership will see IBM fold in OpenAI's frontier models, Codex and ChatGPT Work, into its IBM Consulting Advantage platform.
A dedicated OpenAI Practice will be staffed by thousands of consultants and engineers with expert-level certifications to deploy the technology with customers in heavily regulated environments.
The agreement follows a punishing stretch for IBM, whose chief executive Arvind Krishna told investors in July that the company had not adapted or moved quickly enough as large deals failed to close on expected timelines.
