IBM Unveils AI-Powered Features for 2026 US Open
IBM has announced new AI-powered features for this year's US Open tournament. The company, in partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), aims to provide a more personalized experience for fans through three innovations: Live Updates homepage, Serve Quality metric, and Match Chat assistant. These tools will generate roughly 1.2 billion data points across 254 singles matches.
The Live Updates homepage allows fans to prioritize their favorite players and quickly access the most relevant information. The Serve Quality metric uses limb-tracking technology developed by IBM to analyze 21 body and racquet data points, providing a more accurate assessment of serve quality.
Additionally, Match Chat assistant has been upgraded with AI agents trained in USTA's editorial style, integrating text, photos, and video for richer context. This partnership marks the latest development in IBM's long-standing relationship with the USTA, which dates back to 1992 and includes digital experiences for over 14 million global tennis fans annually.
