IBM Unveils AI-Powered Smart Governance Platform for Mining Sector
IBM plans to transform its Mining Tenement System (MTS) into an AI-enabled smart governance and monitoring system, leveraging artificial intelligence, data analytics, GIS, and IoT. The initiative aims to regulate the mining and mineral sector more efficiently.
Pankaj Kulshrestha, Controller General of IBM, announced this plan during a workshop organized jointly by Nagpur Chapter of Mining Engineers' Association of India (MEAI) and IBM.
The adoption of AI-enabled tools has become inevitable across sectors, according to Dr. Y G Kale, Chief Controller of Mines (MDR), IBM. The vast data repository of MTS should be converted into real-time applications and predictive models, emphasized D B Sundara Raman, National President, MEAI.
NIC is ready to work closely with IBM in taking MTS forward to MTS 2.0, said R D Borole, Technical Director, National Informatics Centre (NIC).
