IBM Unveils Groundbreaking Processor for Enterprise Computing
IBM has introduced an advanced processor that could revolutionize enterprise computing by bringing Arm-native applications to future IBM Z and LinuxONE systems.
The new dual-architecture processor, developed in collaboration with Arm Holdings plc, will enable enterprises to run Arm-native Linux environments alongside z/OS and Linux on IBM Z. This means businesses can access a broader software ecosystem while maintaining security, reliability, and scalability.
The processor features 11 high-performance cores running above 5.7 GHz, AI inference accelerators for tasks like fraud detection, an on-chip data processing unit for faster I/O, and a large cache designed for demanding enterprise workloads.
