IBM Ventures Invests in BQP for Quantum-Algorithm Physics Acceleration
BQP, a company specializing in physics-AI optimization engine technology, has secured an investment from IBM Ventures. This strategic move brings BQP's total funding to $8M and enables the expansion of their platform beyond aerospace and defense.
The company's BQPhy® solver removes the trade-off between speed and accuracy in high-fidelity physics simulations, allowing engineers to get accurate results without leaving their existing tools. QuantumNOW™, a product of BQP's technology, is currently in production on customers' existing CPU and GPU infrastructure.
BQP has demonstrated significant growth since its 2025 seed round, with contracted and committed revenue increasing by 8x, tripling their customer base, and growing platform users by 20x. The company is also making headway in various industries, including energy, where it's applying the same platform to commercial systems.
Abhishek Chopra, Founder and CEO of BQP, stated that his team has focused on building a practical path toward hybrid quantum-classical computing, allowing users to get quantum-accelerated results without changing their workflows. IBM Ventures' investment is a testament to this approach, according to Emily Fontaine, Global Head of IBM Ventures.
