IBM Veteran Raymond Arthur Handyside Dies at Age 86
Raymond Arthur 'Ray' Handyside, an IBM veteran of 32 years, has passed away at age 86 in Petaluma. Born on May 29, 1933, in Royal Oak, MI, Ray grew up on a wheat farm in upstate New York.
He served in the United States Air Force before joining IBM as a Computer Systems Customer Engineer. After retiring from IBM, Ray earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying model airplanes.
Ray married Patricia Thomas in 1961 in Kingston, NY, and moved to Petaluma in 1962. He was a founding member of St. James Parish and the first Grand Knight of the St. James Knights of Columbus.
