IBM's Quantum Computing Breakthroughs Drive Hudson Valley Economic Growth
IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights has been at the forefront of technical breakthroughs, including those in quantum computing.
During a recent tour, officials highlighted the significance of their work, with IBM Fellow and Vice President of Quantum Systems Oliver Dial explaining that the impact of quantum technology doesn't necessarily require direct use of a quantum computer. Instead, scientists around the world can benefit from the tools becoming available.
Visiting the facility were Rep. Mike Lawler and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, who emphasized the importance of the work being done there for both research and development as well as manufacturing and job creation in the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Lutnick stated that having a quantum industry built in America is crucial for a manufacturing renaissance, arguing that you can't have one without the other.
