ICE Agents Accused of Racial Profiling, Using Derogatory Language During Traffic Stops
ICE agents were accused of using derogatory language against individuals during traffic stops in a recent court filing. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) obtained videos from ICE and presented them as evidence, showing officers referring to people they encountered as 'tonks' or 'wet,' terms that are considered racial slurs.
The alleged incidents took place in June 2025 during a raid at a Home Depot in Hollywood. In the footage, one immigration officer can be heard using a racial slur to refer to an individual who was sitting in a minivan. Another officer is seen saying 'Yeah, just plug us in where you see some' before using another derogatory term.
The ACLU argues that these incidents demonstrate racial profiling and a disregard for the law by immigration officers. The group claims that traffic stops were conducted based on skin color rather than individualized suspicion, violating the Fourth and Fifth Amendments of the US Constitution.
