ICE Transfer Flights Through Boeing Field Hit 94 Amid Growing Concerns
The number of ICE transfer flights through Boeing Field in King County has increased to 94 as of August 14, according to new public data from King County. This marks a significant rise since 2023, when a federal court order reinstated the practice after a 2019 county executive order aimed to limit cooperation with ICE.
Domestic transfer flights see detainees being transported between detention centers and deportation staging facilities. In the first year of the Trump administration, domestic ICE flights rose by 132% to 9,066, according to Human Rights First.
The data also reveals that since August 1, 2021, a total of 221 shackled detainees have been transferred outbound on flights from Boeing Field. Meanwhile, 64 'passengers inbound' have arrived at the airport since documentation began in August 2023.
