ILM's Lasting Legacy in Cinema
The Walt Disney Company has released a new video showcasing the history and legacy of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a renowned visual effects company.
In 'How Industrial Light & Magic Changed Movies Forever', ILM's SVP and general manager Janet Lewin, executive creative director John Knoll, and Lucasfilm's SVP and executive design director Doug Chiang reflect on the company's impact on filmmaking.
'George Lucas brought together artists who invented a new way of working and changed the landscape of filmmaking forever,' Lewin notes. 'ILM, from its very inception, had created a wonderful atmosphere of collaboration, openness, innovation, and high art.'
The video highlights several landmark ILM productions available on Disney+, including Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), The Mandalorian (2019-23), The Abyss (1989), and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006).
