Imdeltra-Imfinzi Combo Shows Improved Survival in Small-Cell Lung Cancer
Amgen and AstraZeneca have reported that their combination therapy of Imdeltra and Imfinzi has shown significant improvement in overall survival for patients with extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer. The late-stage trial tested the maintenance treatment against Imfinzi alone in patients who had not progressed after standard induction therapy.
The study found that, in addition to improved overall survival, the drug combination also increased progression-free survival and response rate without identifying any new safety concerns. Imdeltra has been approved by the FDA for extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer since 2025, following accelerated approval in 2024.
AstraZeneca's Imfinzi is a human monoclonal antibody that blocks tumor mechanisms to evade and suppress the immune system. The combination therapy represents an important development in the treatment of this aggressive form of lung cancer.
