Imo Police Kill Suspected Bandit Leader 'Acid' in Gun Battle
Imo State police have killed Ojiogu Elumah Martin, a suspected bandit leader known as 'Acid', in a gun battle at his hideout in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area. The operation was linked to a series of killings and other violent crimes in the area.
The police were investigating Acid over allegations that he led a group responsible for burning construction equipment and attacking oil facilities. Specifically, they looked into the alleged burning of equipment belonging to Waltersmith Industrial Park and Oilserv, including Caterpillar machines, bulldozers, excavators, and welding machines.
Acid was also linked to the sabotage of the Shell Trans-Niger Pipeline around Awarra-Rumekpe axis. He allegedly operated with a group responsible for several killings and other violent crimes in Ohaji/Egbema and neighboring communities between 2024 and 2026.
