India Expands E-Visa Access with 11 New Entry Ports
India has expanded its electronic visa (e-visa) access for foreign nationals by integrating 11 new entry points into its system. This brings the total number of enabled ports in the country to 88, which includes 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land border checkpoints.
The e-visa system now handles approximately 78% of all visas issued by India, up from a 43-country pilot at its launch in 2014. The new entry points include airports, maritime seaports, and land border crossings.
The expansion is expected to distribute international visitor traffic away from saturated major hubs like Mumbai and Delhi, promoting tourism in peripheral regions.
