India Fast-Tracks Mining Projects to Boost Mineral Security
India's Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy has directed key mining and exploration agencies to fast-track pending projects. The directive aims to strengthen India's mineral security and strategic growth objectives, supporting the country's long-term industrial development.
The Minister chairing high-level review meetings in Bengaluru with senior officials of the Geological Survey of India (GSI), National Institute of Rock Mechanics (NIRM), Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), and the Remote Sensing & Aerial Survey (RSAS) division. He stressed the need for speed, accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the mining and exploration sector.
Reddy noted that technology, transparency, and efficiency should be the foundation of every institutional process. The review meetings focused on accelerating mineral exploration, promoting sustainable mining practices, strengthening scientific capabilities, and expanding the use of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and remote sensing.
