Indian Authorities Raid Mumbai Warehouse Faking Food Expiry Dates

Indian authorities have raided an operation in Mumbai that faked expiry dates and nutritional information on food products manufactured by PepsiCo, Nestle, Coca-Cola, and Unilever. The raid was conducted by food officers who seized goods worth nearly $80,000.

The warehouse, run by Sadhana Enterprises, had chemicals used to remove original expiry dates and ingredient labels, machines to print new labels, and scores of label packs for products including Lay's potato chips and Maggi noodles.

Most products were expired or near-expired, with some having their dates changed to make them appear fresh. The affected companies did not respond to requests for comment.
