Indian Diaspora in China Flags Social Media Abuse at Embassy Open House

Members of the Indian diaspora in China expressed concerns about social media abuse and visa problems during an open house event at the Indian Embassy in Beijing. The community members, who are professionals working in various sectors, raised issues such as a rise in abusive content against Indians on Chinese social media platforms.

The participants also pointed to a decline in the number of job visas being issued to Indian professionals and restrictions on employment for spouses. Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami said the embassy would simplify documentation for Chinese nationals applying for Indian visas from next week, making travel to India easier.

Doraiswami stated that the Chinese government is also concerned about the increase in abusive content and is taking steps to address it. The embassy plans to counter misinformation by sharing fact-based information through its social media handles.
