Indian Equity Markets End Lower Amid Sectoral Divergence
The Indian equity markets ended lower on Wednesday, as weakness in IT and other key sectors offset gains in banking and metal shares.
The Nifty 50 index closed at 24,207.75, down 126.80 points or 0.52 per cent, while the BSE Sensex fell 183.15 points or 0.24 per cent.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research at Geojit Investments Limited, attributed the decline to sectoral divergence and margin pressure concerns in IT stocks following the US visa appointments pause amid an immigration crackdown.
Nair said inflation concerns receded on tempered US sanctions on Iran, easing domestic bond yields, and lifting banking stocks. However, these gains were largely offset by weakness in IT stocks.
