Indian Students Favor Foreign University Campuses Within India
Indian students are increasingly turning to foreign university campuses located within India due to affordability, access to global teaching methods, and reduced visa uncertainty. According to a recent Emeritus report, about 68% of 1,010 respondents surveyed said they would be likely or extremely likely to study a program offered in India by an international university.
The survey, which covered people aged 15 to 28 across major Indian cities, found that the preference for an India-based international program cut across students considering overseas education and those who were not. Among transitioning students, those enrolled in undergraduate programs or preparing for postgraduate study, the strongest interest in studying in India within the next two years was evident, with 92% of respondents saying they would prefer an India-based international program over going abroad specifically to avoid visa uncertainty.
The report also highlighted that 72% of respondents believed an India campus would be more affordable than studying at the same university abroad. An equal number believed such a campus would provide exposure to global teaching methods and high academic standards, while 71% said it could improve opportunities in the global job market.
