India's Data Breach Costs Soar to ₹25.5 Crore Amid Rising AI-Generated Threats

IBM's latest Cost of a Data Breach Report reveals that India has experienced its highest-ever data breach cost, reaching ₹25.5 crore in 2026.

This represents a 15.9% increase from last year's ₹22 crore and an average total organizational cost of ₹255 million per breach.

The report highlights the growing threat of AI-generated malicious breaches, which accounted for 26% of all breaches in India.

Organizations that extensively deployed AI and security automation experienced significantly lower breach costs and faster response times, while those without such measures paid an average of ₹316 million per breach.
