India's Data Breach Costs Soar to Record High
The average cost of a data breach in India has reached an all-time high of Rs 25.5 crore, according to a recent report by IBM.
This represents a notable increase of sixteen percent from the previous year, with the financial impact of data breaches surging to Rs 25.5 crore in 2026.
The scope of these breaches also widened, with more records being compromised. On average, 39,500 records were affected in 2026, compared to 38,200 in 2025.
The report highlights the importance of adopting artificial intelligence (AI) in security operations, as organizations that did not implement AI in their security frameworks endured higher costs.
