Indonesia Launches University-Based AI Research Hub with Nvidia Partnership
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) and Nvidia have collaborated to launch an AI research hub in Indonesia, called the UGM Indosat NVIDIA AI Technology Center (NVAITC). This centre is part of Indonesia's initiative to become a leading nation in AI adoption.
The NVAITC was inaugurated on August 13, 2026, and aims to advance AI research, innovation, and digital talent development. It will provide researchers at the University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) with end-to-end AI capabilities, including enterprise-grade compute and pre-trained AI models.
The centre will also use Nvidia's full-stack AI platform and Indosat's sovereign GPU-as-a-service platform to drive AI projects in Indonesia. Initial projects include an AI-powered screening technology for tuberculosis and SmartAgri, which leverages AI and precision farming to improve productivity in tropical agriculture.
