Infinimmune Secures $75 Million for Eczema Therapies Amid Dupixent Competition
Infinimmune, a Bay Area biotechnology company focused on antibody discovery, has secured $75 million in Series A funding from prominent life sciences investors. The capital will accelerate clinical development of two lead programs targeting atopic dermatitis, with first-in-human studies expected to begin in 2027.
The round was co-led by Regeneron Ventures and Playground Global, and included participation from RA Capital Management, Forge Life Science Partners, Goldcrest Capital, and Merck & Co., which maintains an existing partnership with Infinimmune through its global health innovation fund.
Infinimmune's lead assets, IFX-101 and IFX-201, are monoclonal antibodies targeting IL-22 and IL-13 respectively. The latter pathway overlaps with Dupixent, the blockbuster injection co-marketed by Regeneron and Sanofi that has dominated the eczema landscape for years.
Infinimmune's CEO Wyatt McDonnell framed the relationship between his company and Regeneron as complementary rather than competitive, citing the complexity of atopic dermatitis and the potential for multiple treatment options. The capital should sustain Infinimmune well beyond the initial clinical readouts, with GlobalData forecasting the atopic dermatitis market to reach $22.4 billion by 2033.
