Sixty-four million social media followers are being asked to boycott two major US retailers by 56 public figures and content creators who claim that Lowe's and Home Depot are profiting from a surveillance system that could harm immigrant day laborers.

The signatories, including TikTok comedian Spencer Earl and former NASA engineer Susan Martinez, argue that the hardware stores' contracts with Flock Safety put their customers in danger by providing data that could be exploited by malicious government agencies. They claim that Flock's network has been used to aid immigration agents in raiding, stalking, and detaining people.

The influencers are urging Lowe's and Home Depot to end their contracts with Flock Safety, highlighting the irony of hardware stores 'profiting daily off immigrant day laborers' while sharing data with hostile organizations that want to cause them harm. The US public has been resisting Flock across the nation due to its alleged misuse and repeated camera vandalism.
