INL Teams Up with Nvidia to Accelerate Nuclear Deployment with Prometheus
The Idaho National Laboratory (INL) has partnered with Nvidia to accelerate nuclear deployment through the Prometheus project, part of the Department of Energy, led Genesis Mission. The mission aims to build an integrated scientific platform using AI to speed up U.S. research and development.
The INL-Nvidia collaboration will focus on several strategic initiatives, including AI-powered nuclear design, licensing, manufacturing, construction, and operation. This will involve developing generative AI, digital twins, and agentic workflows to accelerate nuclear energy deployment.
According to INL director John Wagner, this partnership represents a transformative approach to deploying abundant, reliable nuclear energy at the speed and scale required for an AI-driven future. The collaboration may expand to include additional stakeholders, including nuclear reactor developers, utilities, investors, and other national laboratories.
