Insurance Stocks Primed to Weather Market Volatility
The insurance industry has seen significant growth over the past six months, with market leaders capitalizing on strong underwriting results and rising investment income to boost profitability.
This performance closely follows that of the S&P 500, which has gained 11.7% in the same period.
However, investors should exercise caution due to the cyclical nature of insurers, who are exposed to claims risk and regulatory changes.
Two insurance stocks stand out as resilient performers: Primerica (PRI) and Travelers (TRV).
Primerica has seen pre-tax profits increase over the last five years, thanks in part to share repurchases that have boosted earnings per share growth to 17.9%.
Travelers, on the other hand, has expanded its pre-tax profit margin by 10.9 percentage points over the past two years, driven by scale and efficiency gains.
