Intel Stock Rises Amid Analyst's Proposal for Apple Partnership
Intel's stock price rose approximately 1.3% on Friday as investors reacted to an analyst's proposal that Apple could use Intel to supplement its processor manufacturing needs.
According to Melius Research analyst Ben Reitzes, Apple's dependence on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing for processors used across its devices is a concern due to current component shortages and increased competition from AI data centers.
Reitzes suggested that an additional foundry relationship with Intel could diversify Apple's production and improve factory utilization. However, neither Apple nor Intel has announced an agreement.
Intel closed near $92.32 after trading as high as $97.79, but the possible Apple opportunity remains an analyst-developed scenario rather than revenue included in Intel's guidance or backlog.
